A seasoned samurai knelt in the courtyard, waiting for the Master’s final test. Across from him sat a renowned swordsman, a blur of motion who had never lost a duel.
The challenger sneered, drawing a gleaming blade that caught the morning light. “You face a master of death,” the challenger hissed. “In the blink of an eye, your blood will stain these stones. Where is your defense?”
The samurai did not draw his sword. He simply closed his eyes, took a slow, deep breath, and opened them again with absolute tranquility.
Confused and unnerved by the lack of fear, the challenger struck. With blinding speed, the blade flashed toward the samurai’s neck, stopping barely a hair’s breadth from his skin. The samurai did not flinch, blink, or retreat an inch.
The challenger dropped his sword in disbelief, his hands trembling. “How?” he whispered. “I held death itself right before your eyes. Why did you not cower? What magic protects you from the end?”
The samurai smiled gently, placing a hand over his heart. “You threaten me with an end I do not own,” he replied. “My life is already kept safe in hands greater than yours. Because I know that to be absent from this body is to be present with my Saviour – Yahshua forever, death is no longer a thief—it is merely a door. A warrior who is already dead to fear is the only one truly free to live.”
Final Thought:
“For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.” — Matthew 16:25
Entrepreneurs: In entrepreneurship fear of failure, bankruptcy, or reputational ruin often paralyzes decision-making, leading to defensive, timid moves. When you anchor your identity and ultimate future in Christ you become unshakeable, and are freed from the terror of losing.
Operating without the paralyzing grip of fear allows for radical risk-taking, ethical integrity, and true, uncompromised vision.
