ACCEPTANCE OF CYCLES*

A student asked his Master, “The mountain stream twists and turns, rushing over rocks, never resting day or night. Where is it going in such a hurry?”

The Master replied, “It seeks the lowest place, where it can finally fall and be still.”

The student said, “But when it reaches the great ocean, it is lifted back into the sky as mist and falls upon the peaks once more. If it is only destined to climb again, why does it run so fiercely to the bottom?”

The Master smiled and said, “Because the mountain cannot hold the rain, and the sea cannot hold the sky. In running, it is water. In resting, it is the ocean.”

The student bowed, understanding that the river does not run to reach an end, but to be what it is.

FINAL THOUGHT

All the rivers run into the sea, yet the sea is not full; to the place from which the rivers come, there they return again. – Ecclesiastes 1:7

Entrepreneurs: Your journey of growth is not in the waiting for a magical “exit” or a point where the work stops. True entrepreneurship is not a destination; it is the daily process of solving problems and adapting to market cycles.

Investors: It is not wise to hoard cash looking for a permanent “safe haven.” Capital must flow. Your job is to manage the natural cycle of deploying money into the valleys and harvesting gains at the peaks.

Like the endless cycle of the river, business is a continuous process of building, resting, and transforming. You do not build a business to reach a final endpoint, but to master the constant flow of the market.
