Peace from within is intentional.
At a young age, I found myself drawn to personal development literature. Many of the books I read pointed toward the importance of stillness—meditation, reflection, solitude. What began as a curiosity eventually became a lifestyle. Over time, I realized that stillness wasn’t a lack of movement—it was a discipline, a positioning, a state of intentional awareness.
As I studied both the science and spirituality behind it, one pattern stood out across every field: everything has rhythm. At the atomic level, energy is always in motion. From physics to philosophy, scripture to quantum theory—stillness is not the absence of activity, but the alignment of one’s inner flow with a greater rhythm.
In ancient Chinese philosophy, the concept of wu wei speaks to “effortless action”—an idea that resonates deeply with how I approach leadership and growth today. In physics, the path of least action is not laziness, but precision. Efficiency. Flow.
STILLNESS GIVES US SPACE
- So we reflect on what’s truly important
- So we realign our actions with our purpose
- So we recalibrate our energy for the next move
We are all moving—constantly transitioning from where we are to where we’re called to be. But when we neglect stillness, our movement becomes chaotic. It’s in the pauses, the quiet moments, that we gain clarity. Sometimes, the next best move is not another move—it’s a moment of reflection that realigns our direction.
Stillness creates space for wisdom. For clarity. For recalibration.
WHY THE SABBATH MATTERS
For years, I wondered why rest was considered sacred enough to be included in the Ten Commandments. “Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy” (Exodus 20:8) isn’t just about tradition—it’s about design.
We are wired for rhythm. Rest is not weakness; it’s wisdom. It is in these moments of stillness that we experience “perfect peace” (Isaiah 26:3), where we are reminded of The Most High’s sovereignty and repositioned for renewed strength and clarity. We were created to flow—not force.
WHERE THE POWER DERIVES
I often reflect on these scriptures that ground me in the truth and power of stillness:
- Psalm 46:10 – “Be still, and know that I am God.”
- Psalm 4:8 – “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.”
- Mark 4:39 – “Peace, be still.” Then the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
- Psalm 23:2 – “He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.”
- Isaiah 26:3 – “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”
- Joshua 1:8 – “Meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”
Stillness isn’t inactivity. It’s strategic alignment.
Peace isn’t passivity. It’s powerful positioning.
And rest isn’t retreat. It’s the preparation for a stronger return.
